Art party – Days 48 & 49
March 28th, 2010
My brother, who is beyond creative and ever-motivated, organized an art party with our family last night, where everything we made that evening would go home with him and into a zine. We’re all on a zine kick. Awesome. I love hanging out with my family, eating good food and now we can enjoy the company of one another while making art. An exceptional time. EXCEPTIONAL!
I dabble only a little bit in visual art. I used to draw a lot when I was younger, but the older I got, the less art I made. I drew all the time in middle school and high school. All the art books I have are in the attic at my parents’. I even remember being in art club for awhile in high school. In college, the only art I made was doodle in the margins of notebooks during boring classes. After graduation, I pretty much quit altogether, focusing more on my writing and real world shit. The real world is severely overrated.
It was nice to make art again. I may pick up some supplies of my own soon, because I enjoyed myself a lot and art (like writing) can be engaging and therapeutic as well, just like writing.
I drew a lot of things that have been on my mind lately, most of it having to do with my current writing project. It’s nice to see things come out on paper in pictures rather than words. It puts things in perspective a little better. I saw things I’ve never noticed before. I don’t know what I’m doing with my writing though. I need to think about that.
Today I’m taking it easy, lazing about and enjoying nothing in particular. I love indulging like this on Sundays. It’s awesome, but i also need to think what I will make for dinner. Hmm.
Art parties. Do them.

Fancy Prismacolors. Those look great, it is awesome that your family gets together to do such fun things. They are an awesome bunch.
My dad has some nifty art supplies. Anne does too. I really liked the marker set she had. I think I enjoyed making a mess with the pastels the best though… midst all t he crazy audio my brother and mom were making. Woah.
