Plants <3

I don’t have children, but I am proud of all my little ones.

My little Christmas cactus bloomed! I didn’t know if it would bloom this year or not. It’s so pretty, and there will be so many blooms on it too for the winter season. I’ve got three mature ones so far.

I’m so proud of my rubber tree. After the accident back in March, as you all remember, I didn’t know if Planty would pull through. Looking at it now, you really wouldn’t think it even had an accident.

I am a bit concerned about this little guy. For the past month, I’ve noticed a thin layer of “dust” on some of the outer leaves. I could wipe it away, but beneath the dust the leaves were brown-black. After some research today, I think the culprit is powdery mildew, which isn’t lethal to a plant… as long as it doesn’t take over. So with this news, I trimmed back this plant a lot today. It may have not been getting the air circulation it needs, since it was so bushy before. (I should have taken a picture before I trimmed it. I cut about 1/3 of the plant back.) I don’t want to lose it, or any of my other plants. I’m glad this one is in my room, and not near the other plants, except for one aloe.

I took a couple clean cuttings from the plant from my room in hopes of making a new plant! I think it should be easy to get it to root, considering I found a fallen leaf in the main pot that was growing roots by just being stuck in the soil. We’ll see!

When I had first gotten these two aloe plants, I potted them together. Big mistake. One was slowly taking over the pot, pushing the other one sideways. I felt sorry for the littler aloe being pushed around by the bigger one, so I put it in its own pot and moved it to the windowsill in my bedroom to keep my one other plant company, and to my knowledge, aloe doesn’t contract (or has a very hard time contracting) powdery mildew.

This guy… is doing so-so. The leaves have been browning at the tips lately, which I noted was when I started cutting back watering schedules for the winter. I guess anthuriums need more water than the other plants I have. I really hope it blooms again. It was so pretty in the summer.

Still holding on, especially after I pulled it away from the sun. Not as bushy as it once was, but still very much alive.

This little one has grown a lot! Look at it! <3

I LOVE YOUR PLANTS.
I need a bigger place, just to hold all the plants I want.
I’m jealous of your ficus elastica–mine is looking a little sad right now, so I’m hoping it’ll pull through the winter so it can really take off next spring/summer.
Aloe are fantastic for taking cuttings – you can rip it apart and still grow new sprouts!
What’s your bubbly one at the bottom? A jade of some sort?
You take such good care of your little ones. = )
That ficus… I’m so proud of it, especially since I sunburned it and it dropped nearly all its leaves back in March. I hope yours pulls through when the days get longer once more, Anne!
I’ll try taking some cuttings from the aloe in the spring. Do you just tear off a leaf and stick it in soil?
And that last plant is a burrito! It’s a burro’s tail succulent that kind of creeps as it grows. They’re supposed to be good hanging plants when they get bigger.
I love my plants. I’ll always try to take the best care of them. :)
I’ll have to look into getting a burro’s tail in the spring! We have a really great local greenhouse.
Aloe you can just hack the shit off and stick it in dirt.
Well, not dirt. It should be a good mix for cacti. But, you can definitely just hack it and stick it.
Not cacti, duh. Succulents. Suckyoulents!!
