Today’s video contains what some might deem a spoiler for the book The Shack, so watch at your own risk. :)

I ran into my first audio copyright violation on YouTube today, in which I had a 20-second clip at the end of today’s video with the Nina Gordon song “Now I Can Die” playing in the background. Within a minute of posting the video, the audio was stripped and I was given a copyright violation notice. Happy happy, joy joy.

Yeah, I know everyone wants their piece of the pie, so I can respect Warner Bros. and their copyrights, but I can’t help but think how damaging copyright can also be to an artist. People cannot share a song they like and show how it’s correlating with their lives right now? Fair use only covers so much, and even then it’s not enough.

Artists are seriously missing out when they sell their works to big name publishers, especially those in the music industry.

This little happening made me realize it’s all the more reason to support Creative Commons artists, like those you find on Jamendo. I am particularly in love with Try^d, Silence and Countdown. Have you even heard of Jamendo? If not, shame on you.

Tangent switch… go!

I thought a lot about forgiving and forgiveness today. It’s something that Atom and I talked about before I quit my job, that it lightened your burden in life if you eventually found it in you to forgive those who lashed out with hurt. You don’t have to forget, and you are not expected to form relationships with those you have forgiven, but to forgive someone, even if it’s yourself you are forgiving, that is something powerful, meaningful and healing.

Tomorrow is my birthday, which also happens to fall on Good Friday. I don’t know if that has ever happened before.
