Change of pace – Day 16
February 23rd, 2010
I liked that today was a little different. I’ve been starting to wear myself into a bit of routine, which isn’t good. I need to keep things fresh so I stay creative. Inspired. I’m going to make some cards tomorrow, each one featuring a different thing for me to do. That way when I feel stuck or too comfortable with the pace I’ve set, I can shake things up by drawing a card.
What sorts of things should I put on them?
Today, which I failed to talk about in the video, I bought some supplies for my zine-making endeavors. Little things like glue, a stapler, sharpies and suchlike. The only crucial thing I’m missing is ink for my printer. I forgot to get the typewriter my mother was going to give me when I went to my parents’ yesterday, so I have to print things out from the computer. I lack ink, and when I was at the store today, I couldn’t remember the model number of my printer.
Super lame. But what can you do? It’s not like I know anyone with a time machine, do I?
Yes. Yes I do. Apparently I think it’s the 21st. I went BACK IN TIME!

I started reading your story about the person working at the game store when you zoomed in on it… and now I want to read the rest!
If you need a proofreader, I’m freakishly good at spotting spelling & grammar mistakes. :)
Hahaha, you can be one of the first people to read it when I’m finished then. That was actually the second chapter of it. I’m also notorious for making spelling mistakes because I type horribly. ;)
I proofread Stacey’s papers for her grad classes all the time. I’d be happy to be your proofreader, if you want one. (Plus, I’d get to read your stories sooner!) :)
I too started reading when you zoomed in on the full screen mode.
I am looking forward to reading your stories.
It was good to see you the other day. I know that dad enjoyed spending time with you.
I made toast with some of the bread you left. Yummy.
You will be a “first-reader” too, so you will be seeing some stories very soon. And I always have fun spending time with Dad, especially when we cook. There’s so much to be said about cooking. It’s not just about the food. :)
That bread makes really good toast! I love it.
I love the activity of cooking—people standing around in a kitchen, chopping and chatting, stirring and salivating. Good times indeed.
As far as the cards, that’s a great idea. I have a set, which I haven’t used in a while, that I had activities that I enjoyed to do: writing, drawing, painting, reading, practicing improv, etc. Just fill the cards with that you want to do and you’ll be happy. I even had a set for cleaning or chore related activities. You could have two sets so you could do something that is completely unrelated to a creative endeavor. A needed activity will be done and you will have let your creative energy store up.
Be sure to listen to WFMU no matter what you do!
