On becoming a subcontractor – Day 109
May 28th, 2010

Time to consider options.
The prospect of subcontracting on-site is on the table right now. I’m considering. A lot. I need a break.
I miss being around people, being in an office laughing and coding and having a jolly good time. Some people really loathe office jobs, but I love them. There’s something to be said knowing that another living being is just over the cubical wall. It makes life less… lonely. Even if you aren’t talking.
There are always interesting stories to tell.
I would not mind subcontracting for a month, maybe a smidgen more, and then go back to my writing full time. I’ve been slacking these past couple weeks anyhow and my creative juices dried up. I need a kickstart. Sometimes bending to the whim of another’s timeline is just the kick I need.
And I get to be around people again. For a little while.
It’s extra money to put in the bank. It’s that much longer I can go without having a regular 9 to 5. A new expenditure has popped up as well, so the money would be great.
Yes, I’m definitely considering.

You should do it.
You’ve identified some of the things I love about consulting. It’s a break from the norm, it’s easy money because you get paid to do something you already know how to do, and you know there is a light at the end of the tunnel where you go back to doing whatever you want.
How could you refuse? :)
Do it chica subcontracting work is perfect for you. You work for a few months then take breaks in-between to write and get more inspiration. You who can do it should do it! Go for it girl, I think its a great idea!
