Jinked

I did a lot of writing related things today. This morning I went through the edits for my short story, “Will.” I put together some copies of my fourth issue of Pieces so I can send that out to people who requested a copy. I brainstormed on a small zine, wrote a little of what I may make the first chapter to Always Chasing the Child. A lot of ideas. A lot of directions in which things can go.

I like wiggle room. Sometimes I constrict myself though. I know this. Looking over “Will” I see all these flaws, all these things I don’t like in the story of stylistically. I thought about giving it to a friend or two to read, have them edit it up, make suggestions, ask questions. I think it’s a really neat idea: friends taking a story I had written and editing it. I’d be curious to see the end result after they had their way with my words. That would make an excellent project!

I was also thinking of my friend Kirryn’s writing project lately. Not only do I really like the story (I wish I had thought of something like that, actually), but I think the whole discipline of writing a new chapter every week, is a great idea. Sort of like NaNoWriMo Lite. I’d like to do something, a project I can put online. It doesn’t have to be a polished piece of work, but it would at least get some ideas flowing. Just have to think of a story. Maybe I could even collaborate.

Things have been good lately. I hope I continue to feel this way in the weeks to come.
